Gulf & Ship Island Railroad

The Gulf & Ship Island Railroad (G&SI) is a subsidiary of Rock Island Rail. The shortline interchanges with the Kansas City Southern Railway at Gulfport, MS. In addition, the G&SI also has indirect access to interchange with CSX at Gulfport, as well as Canadian National and Norfolk Southern at Hattiesburg, MS (by way of KCS). The G&SI's principal commodities include: steel, gypsum wallboard, lumber and other building materials, asphalt, aggregates, industrial chemicals, utility poles, plastics and general merchandise freight. 

Offline customers without direct rail service can take advantage of rail via transload services offered in the Bernard Bayou Industrial Park. The park is conveniently located less than a mile from Interstate 10 and US Highway 49. Transload facilities are conveniently located between Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA.
